India registered 12,729 fresh COVID-19 cases, as per data from the Union Health Ministry, updated on Friday. The total case tally in the country stood at 3,43,33,754, and the active cases surged to 1,48,922.
With 221 new deaths reported, the toll increased to 4,59,873, according to data updated at 8 am. The daily increase in new COVID-19 cases has been less than 20,000 for 28 days in a row and has been below 50,000 daily fresh infections for 131 days now.
The active cases constitute 0.43% of the total cases in the country, which is the lowest figure since March 2020. The national recovery rate stood at 98.23%, the highest since March last year. There was an increase of 343 cases in the active caseload in the country in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate stood at 1.90%. It has been below 2% for the past 32 days. The weekly positivity rate was 1.25% and has been less than 2% for the last 42 days… (ET Healthworld – PTI, November 5, 2021)
